FAQs

Who can sign up for an Encounter trip?

Encounter trips are designed for church-based teams of 5–10 people. We believe something powerful happens when a team journeys together—learning, serving, and growing side by side.

Each team is formed by a church or group organizer who selects the team members and appoints a team leader. While we don’t offer trips for individuals, we’re here to help you build and lead a strong team.

How much does an Encounter trip cost—and what’s included?

We aim to keep our in-country costs as affordable as possible. The current in-country cost is $900 USD per person.
This includes:

  • All in-country transportation
  • Daily lunch and dinner
  • Activities and outreach
  • Hosting and preparation resources
  • Travel insurance

Not included:

  • Airfare, hotel and travel between the U.S. and Armenia (arranged by the church)
  • Breakfast (we’ll provide hotel options with breakfast included)

You’ll receive a full cost breakdown and planning guide once your trip is confirmed.

Is it safe to travel to Armenia?

Yes. Armenia is a safe and welcoming country, known for its hospitality and low crime rates. It’s common to see children playing in parks after dark—a true sign of the culture’s warmth.

We have hosted dozens of teams in Armenia with no safety incidents. From day one, your team will be supported by experienced local hosts, clear group guidelines, and thoughtful planning, so you can explore with confidence.

We understand international travel can raise questions. We actively monitor U.S. travel advisories and have clear protocols in place. While we don’t expect issues, we are well prepared just in case.

Good to know: U.S. passport holders can enter Armenia without a visa.

What are the health and physical requirements for an Encounter trip?

Encounter trips are active and immersive. Team members should be prepared for daily walking, long days, and the challenges of international travel, like jet lag and new routines.

Participants need to be able to walk several miles, stand or sit for long periods, and manage fatigue. Please share any health concerns or food allergies with your team leader ahead of time so we can do our best to accommodate.

What does a typical Encounter trip schedule look like?

Each trip is packed with meaningful experiences to help your team connect with God’s work in the region. While the exact schedule is finalized closer to your trip, you can expect a mix of:

  • Devotional and worship times
  • Cultural and historical site visits
  • Local church gatherings and hosted experiences
  • Service opportunities (when possible)
  • Authentic meals and warm hospitality
  • Guided reflection and daily debriefs
  • Meaningful times of intercessory prayer

Our trips are intentionally paced with a balance of learning, serving, and rest. Flexibility is key—schedules may shift based on local needs or opportunities.

How do we prepare for an Encounter trip?

You won’t be alone—we’re with you every step of the way. We equip each team leader with everything needed to guide their team, including a full Encounter preparation guide and engaging pre-trip study sessions.

We also offer virtual support to help your team feel confident and ready. And once the trip ends, we provide resources to help you keep growing and living on mission.

I still have more questions—what should I do?
